Lil' Dragons Karate Classes for kids

LIl Dragons classes This fun-filled introduction to Karate lays a solid foundation, improves fitness levels and social skills while building character for children aged 3 - 7.

The Lil' Dragon programme teaches children to be good citizens and prepares them for life, or at least school. This program includes lessons in safety and life skills, as well as physical martial arts skills. These skills help the students become well rounded by promoting the child's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth.

We approach the physical portion of this class as a Martial Arts focused physical education class. The life skills portion of the class focuses on developing mental, social, and emotional skills. All skills and promotions are based on participation and course completion. Our primary objective is to get the students involved, giving 100% effort, having fun and playing.

The focus of the Lil' Dragon class is to develop fundamental basics. Therefore, we teach very few of the martial arts skills that you will see in older children's programmes. Instead, we focus on the skills they need BEFORE entering the older classes.

What's in it for you and your child?

Lil Dragons Junior Karate Classes 2) Effective methods to encourage, excite and drive towards goals;

We will accept a maximum of 12 children at each of our Lil' Dragon classes in order to ensure that each child gets individual attention and progresses at a steady rate. Bully Buster System
Violence on television, in films, newspapers and magazines is often portrayed as a heroic cultural ideal. Due to this mistaken view of the martial arts by the media, a great number of young people still think that martial artists train to be lethal fighting machines who learn to believe in an "eye-fo-an-eye" approach to resolving conflict.

When we teach our students only physical self-defence skills, we are teaching them to deal with conflict AFTER it becomes a physical confrontation.

The highest goal of a martial artist is to stop conflict BEFORE it starts - to AVOID and therefore PREVENT it.

Physical defence skills are used as a final resort - we use them, if necessary. We use them when we have no other way. Knowing these physical defence skills gives us the confidence to NOT fight.

A balanced instruction of the martial arts includes Mental Self-Defence skills as well as physical ones. We combine the power of muscle and intelligence for a balance between brute force and reason. Learning Mental Self-Defence and using the strongest 'muscle' in their bodies, the most powerful weapon in their posession - their brains - young people develop the skills to avoid conflict by employing a collection of non-violent alternatives.

Instead of resorting to brute force, and possibly getting physically hurt (by fighting) or emotionally hurt (by running away or not 'winning') - our students combine brain and brawn for the most powerful line of self-defence in existance.

As a part of our Lil' Dragons programme, we help to deal with the number 1 social concern for young people today - BULLYING!
